Get AkiPlay on the App Store

One player, two very different places to watch

Sometimes you want a film on the largest screen in the room. Other times, you want to browse your library at your desk or watch on your Mac. These are different viewing situations, and the controls should suit the screen you are using.

The Apple TV release brings AkiPlay to the living room. The macOS release makes it available on the computer you already use. Both let you organize and play supported media from your own sources. Your provider determines which channels and on-demand titles you can access, and the app gives you a place to browse that content.

This launch means you can download AkiPlay through Apple's store on either supported platform. It does not mean an IPTV subscription is bundled with the download. If you are new to IPTV players, that distinction is the first thing to understand before getting started.

Apple TV: make the television your main viewing screen

Imagine coming home after work and wanting to watch without opening a laptop. Apple TV is built for that setting: a television, a remote and a viewing experience you can navigate from the sofa.

Install AkiPlay from the App Store on your Apple TV, open it and connect a supported source you are authorized to use. Once that source is loaded, browse its available content and choose what to watch. A source with live channels is useful for everyday television; a source with movies and series can also give you an on-demand library.

Different providers supply different levels of information. Channel names, guide data, artwork, descriptions, seasons and episode availability can vary. If a library looks incomplete, checking the source and refreshing its data is a better first step than assuming the missing content is included somewhere else.

The Apple TV release is especially useful when the television is where you plan to watch most often. You can explore AkiPlay's Apple TV platform information before installing.

macOS: bring your own library to your Mac

The Mac release gives you another place to use AkiPlay without moving everything to the television. You might want to browse a provider's library at your desk, watch in a smaller room, or use your computer when the household television is occupied.

AkiPlay is now available through the Mac App Store. The macOS button in the website's Get AkiPlay modal opens the store listing. You do not need to download the Android APK for your Mac: the Android installer is for Android devices and cannot install the Mac app.

Open the listing on your Mac and review Apple's compatibility information for that device. Then install the app, open it and add your supported source. Keep the credentials your provider supplied available during setup, and check that the source is active if its content does not load.

For a closer look at the platform, visit the AkiPlay macOS information page. The current website button uses the Mac App Store route; this announcement does not promise a separate direct Mac installer.

iPhone and iPad: coming soon

We also want AkiPlay to fit the times you reach for your phone or tablet. AkiPlay for iOS is coming soon. We will share the download link when the iPhone and iPad release becomes available.

The website's iOS and iPadOS button remains marked Coming soon. That makes the distinction clear: Apple TV and Mac are available now, while the mobile Apple release is coming soon.

There is no confirmed public release date in this announcement. We will announce availability when the release is ready. Check the AkiPlay website for the actual download link once the release becomes available; a platform announcement should tell you what you can install today.

How to get AkiPlay on the right device

  1. Open the AkiPlay website and select Get AkiPlay.
  2. Choose Apple TV or macOS to open the App Store listing.
  3. Install on the compatible device where you want to watch, then open AkiPlay.
  4. Add a supported source you are authorized to access and let its catalog load.
  5. Browse the content your source makes available and start watching.

If you are visiting the website from a phone while setting up your Apple TV, you may find it easier to search for AkiPlay directly in the Apple TV App Store. The website link identifies the correct listing, while installation still happens on the device you want to use.

Android and Fire TV downloads remain separate options in the same modal. Choose the platform that matches your device instead of downloading an installer for a different operating system.

Your source remains the source of your content

AkiPlay organizes and plays media; your provider or playlist supplies it. Installing AkiPlay does not create access to a channel, add an unavailable movie to a catalog or replace a provider subscription.

That also matters when comparing devices. A title available through one configured source may not appear through another. Playback depends on access to the stream, supported media, network conditions and your provider's service. Start with a working source and the correct account information.

Use the sources and subscriptions you are entitled to access. If you need help with missing channels, unavailable titles or provider credentials, those questions may need to be resolved with the source provider. For app information and policies, see AkiPlay's privacy policy and terms.
